On friday 13.2 we will have a general meeting in Koulu at 18:00. We will check the book keeping and do other tasks required by the charter. Then at 19:30 we will have dinner at a nepalese restaurant. Details will be sent by email. Please tell us if you are attending the dinner, as we really need to book in advance as it is a friday night.

We will meet on friday 30.1 at 19:30 at restaurant Red Hot Chilis, the address of which is Eerikinkatu 15. On the menu there are chicken drum sticks. Welcome!
We have the first meeting of 2009 on sunday 18 january at the usual place – the history class of brewery restaurant Koulu. Time: 18:00. We will chat, discuss plans for the spring, and just enjoy good company (and beers, maybe). We already have some interesting plans, so come and make your opinion heard. New members are always welcome too, so don’t hesitate to apprear would our activities interest you.
We have a meeting at the usual place at 18:00. There will be no special programme this time. Just good company and tasty beers.
Queer Turku will throw a pre-christmas party on saturday 29th of november at 7pm partying until midnight (quiet after eleven). The party will be held at Turku university student unions representation sauna. There are tables, chairs, two sofas and a spacious and comfortable sauna department. The premises are equipped with a small kitchen with a microwave owen.
The participation fee of 15€ covers the rent of the sauna as well as food and drinks. On the planned menu we have rice porridge, christmas tarts, other snacks and “glögi” (mulled wine like drink). We will discuss the food, drinks, music and programme in greater detail at the meetings.
The participation fee can now be paid to the bank account of Queer Turku.
There is also a Seta disco at Klubi on 29.11, so we will probably go there afterwards.
The general meeting of Queer Turku will be held on sunday 9.11 at 18:00 in the brewery restaurant Koulu.
The meeting will
- elect the auditor and at least three board members to take care of all the economical matters in 2009
- confirm internal regulations
- set the membership fee for 2009
- make the activity plan for 2009
- all other autumn AGM-issues listed in the charter and the email will likewise be addressed

On saturday 25 october we will go to the Vinokino film festival together to view “Suddenly, LastWinter“
We will meet at Kino Julia (Eerikinkatu 1, second floor) at 15:40.
Beer and bratwurst tasting will take place on saturday 18.10. The time and place have been described in email.
Participants must pay a fee of 17€ (the price has been reduced) to cover for the food and drinks and other costs. Participants must also notify about their participation latest on thursday evening (we will do shopping on friday).
We will be tasting many different kinds of beers recommended by a beer specialist in Alko.
Wheat beers (2 pcs): Hoegaarden (light wheat beer, Belgium); Franziskaner hefe-weissbier (dark wheat beer, Germany)
Ohraoluet (4 pcs): Koff Porter (porter, Finnish); Kozel or Pilsner Urquell (light lager, Chech); Trappist (Holland); sahti or Singha (Thailand) or Guinness (stout, Ireland).
Specialty beers (4 pcs): Kriek (cherry beer, Belgium); Aecht schlenkerla Rauchbier (smoke beer, Germany); Meantime coffee beer (coffee flavored beer, England); Corona (corn beer, Mexiko)
We will have about one decilitre of each beer per person for tasting. The bratwursts will be eaten after the beer tasting, together with any left over beers.
On friday night 10.10 we will have dinner in a co-operatives restaurant. After the dinner we will have further program for the evening. Details have been sent by email.
We will pick mushrooms on saturday 27.9. We will leave Turku for the forest at 1pm by cars and we should return by 5pm. We will be picking well known edible mushrooms and prepare a mushroom stew on our portable Trangia-cookers. Then we will make warm mushroom sandwiches and have a picknik in the forest. We will guide in choosing the mushrooms and make sure no-one collects the poisonous ones. Oh yes, we have been doing this before.
Participants must pay a two euro fee to cover for the bread and other cooking expenses. We want this payment in cash as a single coin on-site. No bank transfers. A small extra fee for the fuel may apply depending on how well the 2 euro fee covers for the food. If you wish to participate, then let us know at info(at)queerturku.net We will organize transport based on that information. Later we will send further details to those who have emailed us.
You should bring with you a bucket or at least a plastic bag for the mushrooms and also a small and sharp knife for picking and cleaning the mushrooms. A small brush may also be usefull. Also bring with you a mug and a plate and what you need for eating.
